To Do It All Again


Once again, after so many times, I have heard the old saying....If I could only do it again I would do it differently.

What was the person talking about, you ask?

Her wedding.

I like to talk to people and my profession brings out a lot of questions.  In the case I'm referring to, this bride didn't think she could afford the freshwater pearl earrings she wanted. She passed on buying them and ended up with a cheap knock off that fell apart the first time she hit the dance floor. 

Not a happy ending to say the least and three years later she was still upset about it. It ruined her appearance in person and in photos and that forever marred her memory of a most important life event. 

What this bride didn't understand is that you don't always have to sacrifice quality for price. 

If she had been willing to do a little bit more leg work (research) she may have found the right pair of earrings, at the right price, that she could have enjoyed for many years to come. 

Sadly, she can't go back. That event in her life has passed. 

But you don't have to make the same mistake.  Let me say that again....you don't have to make the same mistake. 

I work with brides each day - sometimes in person, lots of times on the phone, some times in email and even video chat.  As a bride, you have a lot of questions and at Lierre, we take the time to answer all of the questions we get.

You hit the big box retailer known as the jewelry store and here comes the sticker shock that careens you back out of the door practically crying.

But you love that piece - it's a must have even though the budget and your mind screams "Don't do it!" In your heart, you know that if you do buy it, you will be paying for it for a long time to come or you will be forced to cut the budget for something else. 

What is a lady to do?

It's simple, surf the internet, do your research and ask your questions. An online retailer should be willing to answer any and all questions about the return policy, product quality and the price and in addition - you got it - offer up any deals that they offer. Maybe, if you take the time to ask you can get a volume discount if you buy something for your attendants.  Maybe it will be a percentage discount or a BOGO in addition to free shipping.  

You may not get an immediate answer but I can guarantee you that if you don't ask you won't get.  So treat it like you are negotiating the purchase of a car and cloth seats versus leather. We're very much unlike a regular store clerk who can't negotiate a price.

And let's just be honest, an only online company can save you money.  We don't have lots of overhead that big box retailers have. That means you won't be paying for a high (sometimes 400% or more) markup.  That adds up!

I know you've heard or read about the horror stories of people buying something online that didn't even come close to the item in the picture.


Not all online businesses operate like that.

Isn't it worth it to keep your budget from weeping?

Isn't it worth it to help preserve the wonderful memories in your mind and in a photograph?
